A friend sent me this, I have no idea of its origin and it is fairly creepy but also incredibly brilliant and a great way to open my new blog gallery. If anyone does know its origin etc. please don’t hesitate to contact me, I would love to see more of this artist’s work.

Bristol born Banksy has been in the news as of late, his art on the Palestine West Bank Barrier has caused quite a stir. He’s popping up all over the media.

DanSTC says (and I agree): This in my opinion, is exactly what the *best* kind of art can and should be about. Challenging people’s perceptions, and providing a means of commenting on the ludicrousness of real life. The man, Banksy, is a true art-warrior. Absolute genius.

Attic Treasures and Easy Rider Rare Vintage Posters

In a bid to clean up parts of the house we decided to rummage through our attic to make space for more boxes of things we don’t really need but like to keep. We removed some old boxes and looked through them, most of it was junk. Door handles, screws, locks, metal brackets, paint brushes, wallpaper, broken things and lots of dust. However we did come across a bag containing two large rolls, upon closer inspection they were my Dad’s old posters. These posters look pretty darn cool and I’m trying to value them at the moment.

Art Pieces I may purchase

I’ve decided that I would like some ‘proper’ art to grace the walls of my room. I have film posters of the generic ‘movie loving teen boy’ aka the matrix, kill bill, etc… . I also have a large nuclear explosion photo and a rasturbation of Marilyn Monroe “popaganda”. But I’m not satisfied. I want something with style I guess. So I began browsing shops and art.com for prints that I liked. I found few that struck me but there were 3 I absolutely loved:

a) “Sphinxes with Dictionary” by Francine Van Hove

b) “Bunny Dressing” by Michael Sowa

c) Japanese import Amelie poster (featuring Sowa’s art)

There was also a lovely coffee and croissants photo I nearly purchased in the local arty shop on campus.
