Just some views I have on the Mac­World Key­note this year in San Francisco.

1. Gara­ge­Band loo­ked and soun­ded immense! If I had musi­cal talent I would own this.
2. iLife ’04 would be a very plea­sant thing to have on a mac if I had one.
3. I need a 40GB iPod
4. The mini iPod is WAY too expen­sive — $250 for something with half as much sto­rage as the $299 10GB model (although now upgra­ded to 15GB). I was hoping for an ipod in the sub-200 range which I could afford. Oh well, at least they have pretty colours!
5. The bill­board thing for iTu­nes store loo­ked top notch!

Scroll down a bit to the men­tion of Joe Pesci. They cite every movie I lis­ted, and even use my quote as “one rea­der said”. Appa­rently a maga­zine I can’t find anything about called “Film” may have lif­ted the con­tent without cre­di­ting me. Does anyone get this maga­zine that can con­firm it for me?

This gets even fun­nier. Looks like there really is no FILM maga­zine. A wri­ter from WENN (The World Enter­tain­ment News Net­work) based in England, appa­rently just took my story, attri­bu­ted it to a non-existant maga­zine, and then used a quote from my ori­gi­nal piece as one of the rea­der com­ments from their non-existant poll. This story has then been run in seve­ral sour­ces that subsc­ribe to their news feed (Anna­nova, and various news­pa­pers).
I’ll call their Lon­don office on Mon­day to see what’s up.

Well, I tal­ked to the news edi­tor of The Daily Star and his res­ponse was mind bog­gling. “Well, anything on the net is fair game, you can’t copy­right anything on the inter­net.” What the hell??? He insists that they got their mate­rial from a US maga­zine called FILM that I can find no trace of (don’t think it exists), and pretty much said to take it up with their legal depart­ment if I’ve got a pro­blem with them.

A note: The UK-based Total Film maga­zine is not the US based Film Maga­zine which does not exist.
