HDD arrived finally

Sep 18 2003

I want all that I am, cause I was made to Fly. See the wings? Sorry, I am listening to “Sunna — Power Struggle”. Just browsed through my music and found some old stuff I haven’t listened to for years. Makes me happy. Anyway, today’s account goes something like this. “I’m not trading now”.

Woke up again at 8:00am, doing this is taking a lot out of me, and received my daily dose of Power Rangers Wild Force, Scooby Doo and Garfield. Then I struggled to stay awake. You see, I needed to be awake for when the delivery man comes with my hard drive. Tense switchingly good. Come 10:00am, having browsed various forums and checked my local internet outlets, I head down stairs to get a slice of toast or something. Here I notice the big red Parcel Force van parked outside my door — he hadn’t come to the door with my parcel because he was scared of the insane dogs that were barking in nextdoor’s garden safely behind a brick wall (although they can pop their heads over). Note: They are rottweilers. Anyway, I go out to him and sign for my package. The overall process being very unprofessional.

Spent the next few hours installing the HDD, mainly looking for screws for it and dusting out the insides. Installed, partitioned and formatted. All worked perfectly and now I am loaded up with 200GB. Currently transferring media files and web archives of mine. After doing this my friend told me his web space for the prolab site had come thorugh, so I spent the next 3 hours sorting all that out. I now look forward to the time consuming task of making a forum for them. Oh joy.

Still listening to Sunna. That’s SUNNA, One minute science.

The Hollywood Analogy and Silent Hill

Sep 18 2003

In a new movie round up event of the century world display series look upon with glory article, we see some new developments. But not really.
Firstly, as you may know, the new Kill Bill trailer is up at apple.com, it looks so very good. Secondly I have heard that Underworld is bad and has no “fun parts” — i.e. one long cerebral bore.

This morning I saw an exclusive few clips from the upcoming Thunderbirds live action movie; they showed the incomplete CG stages of thunderbrids two and three — in particular thunderbird two coming in to land opposite Big Ben, it looked so fantastic. One because I am british and two, because I love thunderbirds. Release date is scheduled for July 2004.
Silent Hill. The movie. Yes, these are the rumors;
“Konami’s Silent Hill franchise will be brought to the big screen by Samuel Hadida, producer of True Romance, and his company Davis Films Sarl. Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) will direct the movie. The Silent Hill franchise has combined sales of over four million copies in Japan, Europe and the United States. The company has not yet stated when the movie will hit theaters.“
We also have the upcoming Resident Evil 2. Hollywood again cashing in on others’ success. It has potential but it will most likely be squandered.

The hollywood analogy: There once was a river (hollywood), in this river were fish (these represent ideas). There were many varieties of fish, from trout to angel fish, yes it was a special river. The river was the premium supply for food and entertainment in the surrounding villages. The fish were caught by the fishermen and taken home to their families, where everyone enjoyed a fish either as a meal or a pet. Of course some tasted bad, some were evil and some just died but overall it was good. People enjoyed a respectable percentage of the fish. However, one day, a greedy farmer used too much fertilizer on his crops, this fertilizer seeped into the river and affected the growth of algae. The algae grew and grew, soon enough covering the surface of the river. No more sunlight. Consequently, all the nice fish died; the only ones surviving the onslaught being deep sea creatures that are ugly and pathetic (some would say “special in their own little way”). Now these are all the fishermen catch, the ones that still fish that is. And when taken home, the fish are used only to generate foul smells in plots of revenge against evil neighbours. Thus, few enjoy the fish and until the greedy farmer stops, there will remain a lack of decent fish for catching. Attempts have been made at cloning the nice fish, but the clones turn out wrong and they are never themselves unique. Others have tried dressing up the evil fish to make them look nicer, but the taste and smell are still deathly. Some weird ones have even tried to resurrect the dead fish, in hopes for a return to former glory. On the whole, all attempts have failed. So my friends; we must rise up and kill the evil farmer, so we can enjoy our tuna, salmon, trout, kipper and puffer fish baguettes once again.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Courier Lameness Thrice

Sep 17 2003

Grumble Grumble, mistletoe and pine. Time to hit up with a bout of FofR for another day. That’s if you are a regular, and of them there are few. Syringes at the ready. Today I awoke at 8:00am again, cause you know, that HDD hasn’t arrived yet. Guess what. It still hasn’t. Time for an investigation into this so called “next day premium courier service”, so I check the package tracker and see where the parcel has gotten to. Turns out it’s at the local depot, where it has been for four days. Wonderful. Time to pay the courier service a call as to why it hasn’t arrived… ring ring. Ring Ring. Ring. Hello. The conversation went a little like this, although I wasn’t the one talking;
“Yes we have attempted to deliver it on three separate occasions, each time posting a leaflet to tell you to ring us to sort a time of delivery”.
“I have been here every morning, waiting patiently for it to arrive and we have had no package, visit or leaflet”.
“None?”
“None”
“Ok.”
“Has he been going to the wrong house?”
*address check*
“We tried to deliver to the front door.”
“Ah, that is difficult here, as the paths etc… get confusing, plus you have to walk a way to actually get to it.”
“Ok, we will try again tomorrow, give us a phone number to contact you.”
*tell details on precise house to go to, via the back road*
*cross fingers*
How retarded is a courier service that can’t find a correct address on 3 separate occasions!!!!!!!

In other news; today I made an affiliate for my Evangelion site and prepare to sort out the prolabmusic.com website which will be ready in a couple of days. Hoorah! I will be redesigning sections for ease of use. I also set about watching the remake of “The Ring” but it cut out 15 minutes in. Which was frustrating to say the least.

Gone.

Amber Tamblyn

Sep 17 2003

So I just saw an episode of Buffy with her in (6x06 All the Way) and she was also in the remake of “The Ring”. IMHO I think she looks very fine, but has done very few photo shoots available on the internet.

XP randomly fixes

Sep 16 2003

Bonjour my fellow readers. Or freak visitors who used the word “sex” plus another random one in google and ended up here. Here is the latest blog report from FofR.

The day began early, a sharp rise at 8:00am with a strong coffee. Today a friend was coming over to help sort out my new 80gb hard drive and help format and some other things. Well, as you may know, the HDD didn’t arrive yesterday, but I was confident it would today. As I waited patiently for it I ate some Fruit n Fibre and watched some classic Power Rangers and Scooby Doo on Boomerang / Fox Kids. Oh the life! (nothing else is on at this time on a weekday morning). I continued waiting. Come 11:00am my friend arrived and still no sign of the drive. Sadly this trend remained throughout the day. No drive arrived. How inconvenient. So instead time was spent browsing forums, watching videos, Heathers and mastering GTA Vice City. In the meantime downloading the beta release for Halo on PC. Downloaded. Installed and ran. Error: Crash. The game didn’t work. Thus I rebooted. I was greeted with a pleasant surprise upon my restart. ALL the problems I have been having recently with the MMC/Find/IE/MSN/Mcafee (see previous journal entries, 15th Aug-ish time) were solved. XP informed me some new hardware had been detected. Not that any was added. I can now use the wonderful search options again. The wonderful defrag options and update my virus definitions. But it is rather silly of Xp to randomly fix this random problem that randomly occured. Still no Halo though.

Currently listening to some Clann Zu while making piles of Caddies in Vice City and blowing them up in a miraculous explosion that is a gaming marvel. Oh and I am also pleased cause my photoshops made it into the Something Awful comedy goldmine of the week. Woohay! ( http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=1675&amp;p=4 )
